This
visually stunning online exhibition, addresses aspects of history,
research, education, outreach and visitor access to one of the most
famous paleontological sites in the world, the Burgess Shale in Yoho
National Park (British Columbia, Canada). Of particular interest
is an animated tour of the Cambrian seas through a virtual submarine and
a comprehensive fossil gallery, with high resolution images of
spectacularly well-preserved marine animals and algae, and breathless
digital reconstructions. A must-see for anyone interested in discovering
what life on earth may have been like more than half a billion years
ago, and an excellent primer for those who wish to visit the Burgess
Shale in person. The Virtual Museum of Canada's Burgess Shale exhibit
was created by the Royal Ontario Museum and Parks Canada. Lesson plans for teachers related to this website can also be found on the Virtual Museum of Canada Teacher's Centre. http://www.museevirtuel-virtualmuseum.ca/edu/ViewLoitCollection.do?method=preview&lang=EN&id=19469
