GLG217 Trip to Chile

In February 2011 twenty-nine students from our GLG217 course visited Chile to learn about some of the geology that fascinated Charles Darwin in 1835 and link concepts they learned in lectures to outcrops there. The trip was made possible by financial backing from the Faculty of Arts and Science (Internationalized Course module) and the department. Our guide in the field was Fernanda Soto, a
UofT graduate who is now pursuing graduate studies at the University of Chile and her friend Hernan Bobadilla. After the trip groups of 3 (and one group of 2) students created reports to summarize our experience. Three of these reports (voted the best by members of the department) are shown here.
