The Provost has issued the following message:
- If you are suffering from H1N1-like symptoms, stay home until you are better.
- Go on ROSI at the start and each day afterward to make the required declaration that you are absent for these reasons.
- When you have recovered, print the declaration from ROSI and show it to your instructor(s) if you have missed something that will be marked.
- You are still responsible for learning the material covered while you were away.
- Your instructor is the one who will determine the appropriate accommodation for your absence from the course. Instructors are asked to be flexible in accommodating for your necessary absence, but there is no single way of doing this so you must remain flexible too.
- Other types of illness still require the usual UT Medical Certificate as documentation.

1) Physics, math and chemistry at the first year level.

Learning Outcomes

1) A general knowledge of the fundamental processes shaping the earth, including plate-tectonics, climate, life and their interdependencies.

2) An appreciation for the internal and external energy balances of the planet earth.

3) Knowledge that large-scale Earth processes can be ultimately understood as the result of heat transfer on various time scales.

4) Global distribution of plate boundaries, topography, climate belts, and weathering & erosion belts.

5) Understanding of the kinematic and geometric implications of the various plate-boundary types

6) Ability to read and interpret geological maps
