GLG340 - ERS325 Field Course 1 Whitefish Falls

Essential prior knowledge
1) Ability to recognize minerals in hand sample, and classify rocks
2) Basic knowledge of rock textures and their significance
3) Ability to read a geological map
4) General knowledge of geodynamics and earth evolution
Learning outcomes
1) Recognition of geological structures and their significance in a
field setting
2) Ability to produce and interpret a basic geological map
3) Skill in the use of a compass to measure the strike and dip of
geological structures
Further Information
This course is held either at the end of the spring term or the end of the summer term, and requires that students to register with the Department of Geology in addition to ROSI. The departmental registration opens in January, and the registration deadline is February 17th. Please consult the course announcement for the actual course dates, and equipment required.
